Another stroke of luck in our story is that the doctors and nurses knew how early it was and were ready and waiting for us. Little Jensen, from the minute he was born has had the intensive care he so desperately needs. Had we waited another minute or two before leaving home, or had he decided to come the day after, he may not have.
My legs were shaking in shock but at the same time I felt strangely calm. The pain had stopped. I had to ask the doctor (who was a fellow Yorkshireman) whether it was a boy or girl.... he didn't know. He was in such a rush to get him to the specialist staff he hadn't looked.
Phil and I had agreed on a boy's name from almost the get go. Jensen James Jackson, a nice strong name, with family connections on both sides, and the name of a future great sportsman or athlete (if it's up to daddy, it'll be cricket or golf). Both daddy and Uncle Matthew would like to see Jensen (an Australian, born on Australia Day) play in the Australia Vs England Boxing Day test.......for England! Grandpa James and Uncle Brett will have something to say about this I'm sure....
As Jensen was in such a hurry to be here, and as I had no idea I was in labour, Jensen was born very badly bruised. I am still coming to terms with the guilt that I have. Not only for him being born so bruised, but that it may have been something I had done that caused him to come so very early. I have been told and told again that it was nothing I did, and these things just happen, but nonetheless I feel terrible guilt. As you can imagine the photos taken of him at birth are very hard for me to look at, and I have made the decision to not post those on this blog. I will however, continue to post many many photos of his progress and his gorgeous little self. This one here is one of my favourites. He looks quite plump here as he had an amount of fluid in his body that day.
B what an amazing family you are. Courage and love so strong! Thanks for starting this blog, I will be popping in to see little Jensen grow and thrive. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs and love from us all xxxx
