Welcome back Jensen!

So after a long day of 'yes we are leaving, no we are not', we finally arrived back 'home' at Royal North Shore late last night. It turns out the bed that was available was taken by the time we could get transferred so our trip was cancelled, then two new arrivals at Westmead prompted the consultant at RNS to squeeze us in, as Jensen was taking up a much needed surgical bed.

Look! I'm going in a nee nar
Everyone was very happy to see us return, and little man was payed many visits during the night by the nurses wanting to welcome him back. Some had trouble finding him as he is now officially known as Jensen Jackson, and they were all looking for baby James. As he is now a registered citizen with a Medicare number, at Westmead he was listed as Jensen Jackson. As you can imagine there has been quite an amount of confusion here, especially with his previous last name being his middle name too.

Home again, home again
He was so exhausted from the journey over, he slept soundly from 10pm through to 5am. We are not in the same bed, but just next door in bed 3. I have been busy 'moving' back in this morning and trying to get used to the new layout. And by this evening when he is extubated there will be more room with the removal of the ventilator.

The plan for today is to ween him off the morphine and then pop him back onto CPAP. He is less and less happy with the tube which can been seen by the amount of braddys and desats he's been having due to tube placement. His feeds are increasing to 5ml two hourly, I feel a little nervous about them increasing as quickly as usual, as his bowel has been through so much. The surgeons have advised against the fortification of feeds due to the obstruction in his bowel. It is not the cause of the issue, but because he already had an issue, it had contributed to it. The chalk like milk curd obstructing his colon is the added extra calories. Essentially formula for preemies was being added to my breast milk, which is standard practice, and the premature gut sometimes has trouble breaking it down. The problem is they need to grow quick, so need a boost. There are other options to consider, but for now it'll just be booby juice.
